Laxmi, Geeta and Ashi

Back to J & K House Homepage ………………………………………………………….. The story of two J House brothers
.
.
Laxmi, Geeta, Ashi, and their father lived in a Tharu village in the Dang district of Nepal (see photo on left). Their mother was dead and they were landless, living in a small thatched house. Their father worked as a laborer but couldn’t provide enough money to supply food for the family (and alcohol for himself). Thus, he sold his older daughter Laxmi into Kamlari service (bonded labor). There was no one to care for these children except their alcoholic father. Friends of Needy Children/NYOF rescued Laxmi, Geeta and Ashi in June of 2006 and brought them to K-House (Girls home of FNC).
.
Laxmi was born on September 3, 1995. At the beginning, Laxmi was shy and hesitated to express her feelings but now has become very confident and expressive. She gets along well with her friends. She adores her younger sisters Geeta and Ashi. At the time she came to K-House Laxmi could not read and write yet it took her a very short time to read, write and adjust to her new home and school. Laxmi is now doing well in grade three in Ullens School. She is in good health and has a lovely, charming face as well as exemplary behavior.

Geeta was born on October 6, 1998. Geeta was initially timid and bashful when she came to K House. She had trouble learning to read and write, and to adjust to her new home. With time, however, she adjusted to her new life and her performance is now satisfactory in school. She is in grade two at Arniko School. She is an adorable girl, still not very talkative but she shows good behavior and is making friends. She has remained close to her sisters throughout her time here at K house.
.
Ashi was born on November 12, 2000. Ashi was first reserved and quiet, and it was difficult for her to learn how to read and write, but that has slowly changed as she’s become more comfortable here at K-House. She is now in grade one at Ullens School and her performance is very good. She is in good health, and her early timidity has disappeared. She is now talkative and cute, behaving well and helpful around the house. She adores her older sisters, but also has many other friends.
